Yin and Yang

Oh my goddd oh my goddd @@ This took ages but I'm pretty happy with it <3 It's a final for an illustration class where we had free reign, it just had to tell a narrative of some sort.

This is my main antagonist Natu as an adult and a child. It shows the progression from a scared child into a jaded killer and how these two starkly different personalities are just two sides of the same coin. The butterflies around the child character symbolize death, something that he was surrounded by and very close to for the latter part of his childhood and started to warp his perspective on the world. On top the lotuses represent reincarnation and the multitudes of reincarnations of this character, something that's a major part of the Terra Lucis mythos and story (Darius and Illuna anyone~?)
